The Election Campaign Trail led to Mill Chase

Election CampaignOn the 22nd of April local candidates from the three major parties in the forth coming election arrived at Mill Chase for an "Any Questions?" style debate.  Adam Carew, Damian Hinds and Jane Edbrooke met students from the Student Council from all year groups and year 10 students asked a range of searching questions to put the candidates and their policies on the spot!

Students were interested in a broad range of topics and not just local issues so candidates were forced to consider world issues alongside local issues and broaden their comments to take these onboard. The topics raised ranged from the environment to the economy and jobs for the future - something that is very much in the minds of Mill Chase students.

The possibility of university funding produced a fairly standard response which was not wholly answered for the next generation of would be students - room to improve was the message from some of the students.

Drew Munn, Mill Chase Head boy, chaired the debate and ensured that candidates addressed the issues and no one candidate monopolised the stage! At the end of the extended session everyone was better informed about the views of the candidates and interested to see how politics can become passionate.

A big thank you to the Liberal Democratic, Labour and Conservative candidates for their part in bringing the election process to our young people.
